Outfit Catchup + Giveaway Reminder

I've fallen so behind in posting outfits, so here is just a taste of what I've been wearing lately:



Went to a winery for breakfast on my Dad's 50th birthday - was rather lovely! I had eggs benedict and a hot chocolate, mmm.


Not my car - I wish! The lavender dress was bought from Vintage Calling on Etsy, who is just the loveliest seller I've dealt with in a long time. It's a little big for me in the bust, so my next project is figuring out how to take it in without ruining the lovely pleating on the bust and the lace neckline.


My friend read about a local hot-rod show in the paper, so we got dolled up to check it out. It was amazing! Now to get my P plates...


The stalls did an absolutely roaring trade in parasols that day - the sun was unbearable!


We saw this car on the way home - can somebody please confirm if that is an air conditioner strapped to the car window?!

My New Neighbours: Part 2

We've been experiencing heavy rainfall here lately - of course it is only a fraction of the disastrous flooding that is happening up in Queensland, but some of that wet weather is passing through NSW and Victoria currently. One small upside to this unusually wet summer is that one of my neighbours, who up until now was 'heard and not seen', has finally shown his face now that our garden is like a nice big swamp!


Mr. Frog here has a very big voice for such a little fellow - I can hear him croaking outside my room all day and night, asking the ladies to join him in our water feature! I had no idea he was so tiny - just though he hid very well. My sister and I found him sitting on our damp front step the other evening, and I scooped him up gently while asking her to run and get my camera so that I could show my parents (who were out) the source of our noise.


I could still hear croaking, so I went looking to see if Mr. Frog had friends over for once - maybe this one was his girlfriend? She was so unbelievably tiny! I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for tadpoles in our fountain now!


P.S. I'm glad the rain has made you happy, little guy, but look what the humidity is doing to my hair!

Presents for me, presents for you!

I got a few lovely gifts for Christmas this year! My parents bought me some items to use in my room makeover (the previous occupant was a 5 year old girl, so there are butterfly stickers on the wall that need to be covered!), however, I will show you them when the transformation is complete! I also got a shiny red teapot and some gourmet teas to try from my siblings, and a few cookbooks (which I have already utilized to make a delicious key lime pie).

My favourite present, however, was from my sweetheart - he got me a ukulele!


I can't wait to learn how to play it - I used to play piano as a child so I am not used to having to tune my own instruments, which is proving to be the biggest challenge so far. However, I know there is a group of uke players at my university, so it's also a good incentive for me to be more social in 2011.

The giant and myself on Christmas Day - I do wish I could wear some of the lovely, rich holiday dresses I see gals in the northern hemisphere sporting... it's just too hot here for velvet and satin at christmastime!
